Discover Jesus

You can be sure that God’s heart is towards you! Even before you were born, He knew all about you. We believe there is a God-shaped hole in every person’s life that only He can fill.

A new beginning

Choosing Jesus

If you could know God personally, would you be interested?

We sometimes do questionnaires with people on the street, which finish with this question. Many people answer with yes! Are you also one of them?

The Bible tells us that every person – that includes you – was created in the image of God. That means we all have aspects of His personality, emotions, desires, intelligence, a sense of justice. As human beings, we were created to know God and have a relationship with Him. God wants a deep, personal relationship with us and that is why we too have that longing, deep inside.

The problem

So, what’s stopping us from having a personal relationship with God?

God is the source of all life — and we were created to live in connection with him. But something went wrong. The Bible calls it “sin” — and it means “missing the mark.” Sin is a turning away from the source of life itself. When we disconnect from the one who IS life, we find ourselves in darkness, bondage, and ultimately death — not because God strikes us down, but because that’s what happens when we turn away from the one who holds everything together.

This is the human dilemma: we cannot free ourselves. No amount of effort or self-improvement can reconnect us to the life we were made for.

The solution

“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”Romans 5:8

God didn’t stand far off and wait. He came to us himself. Jesus — the Bible calls him “Immanuel,” God with us — entered fully into our broken condition. He came healing, restoring, setting people free.

And then he went further than anyone could have imagined: he entered into death itself and broke it open from within. Through his resurrection, he opened a way back to life that no one can close again. The blood of Jesus carries the indestructible life of God — the only power strong enough to truly cleanse us, heal what is broken, and set us free from everything that holds us captive.

This is God coming all the way to where we are to bring us home.

So what does this mean for me?

You are invited into something breathtaking: participation in the very life of God — a life of discovering that Christ lives in you, and you in him. A life that changes you from the inside out.

Accept. Open your heart to what God has already done. He is not far away. He has come all the way to where you are. Recognize where you have turned away from him — the source of all life — and receive the forgiveness he offers.“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Believe. Trust that Jesus has conquered death and that his resurrection life is for you. He went into the grave so that you would never have to stay there.
Communion. Invite Jesus into your life and begin the journey of discovering what it means to live from the life of God.“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

God, I thank you that you love me and that you have come all the way to where I am.

Thank you for sending Jesus, who entered into our darkness and broke the power of death through his resurrection. I open my heart to receive the new life that you offer.

Lord Jesus, forgive me where I have sinned and missed the mark. I invite you into my life. Cleanse me, heal me, and teach me to live from your life. I want to walk with you from this day forward. Amen.

If you prayed this with your heart, you have just stepped into a living relationship with Jesus! “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Cor 5:17)

Baptism

If you have already committed your life to Jesus but not yet been baptised as a believer, we would love to help you take this important step.

What is baptism?

Baptism is a fundamental aspect of the Christian faith, and a commandment of Jesus which He detailed in Matthew 28:19.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”Matthew 28:19

Water baptism cuts off our past life and rebirths us into the new life that God intends for us. Something supernatural takes place! The immersing, submersion and emerging at baptism shows our identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:3-5).

Can I be baptised?

The prerequisites for water baptism are that repentance and faith in Christ must be in operation first.

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”Acts 2:38

So if you have repented of your sins and committed your life to Jesus, you absolutely can, and should, get baptised! At Hope Church, we usually baptise people outdoors – in lakes or the river Isar.
